Mentoring

The role of a Mentor is to offer support, encouragement and guidance to young people and to help them develop their skills to reach their full potential. If you have a general interest in young people, have the ability to be a willing listener and able to engage in social and recreational activities, then this role may be very suitable for you. All Mentors are provided with induction training (2 days) and ongoing support. This role requires approximately 1 hour weekly of your time.

Coordinator

Coordinator required, this position will facilitate a community program called Timebanking which allows the voluntary exchange of services between it’s members. The position will work best for someone with good planning skills, good skills with people, good admin skills, has a cheerful/positive personality and is able to work independently. Training & support will be provided for this position.

Advocate

Volunteer will uphold and maintain the human rights of people with a disability. Visiting supported accommodation facilities, monitoring and reporting on the adequacy of services provided to residents. Ensuring they are being treated with dignity and respect.

Visitors work in pairs, talking to residents and staff about any issues. Spending between 8-10 hours per month visiting facilities. Continue reading

First Aid Volunteers

Volunteers required in Wodonga division. Duties include providing first aid care to members of the public, attending meetings and assisting in the day to day running of the division.

Radio Operator

Volunteers needed for radio readers & panel operators. Will work in a team of 3.

Times are 5:30am to 7:30am, once a week or once a fortnight.

Independent Third Person

ITP volunteer to assist people with disability or mental illness during interview or when making formal statements. The person being interviewed can be an alleged offender, a victim or a witness.

The volunteers’ role will be to facilitate communication, assist the person in understanding their rights and support the person through the process. Continue reading

Friendly Social Support

Volunteers to assist the care-coordinator with welcoming, listening and encouraging those who come into the office, having a cuppa with people, support groups, friendly home visits to those who are housebound, unwell, carers or grieving a loss, a companion for walking, biking, water exercise or other passive recreational activities delivering care packages. Kitchen Cook & Kitchen Assistant

Kitchen Cook and Kitchen Assistant positions open. Will mainly be about the preparation of morning tea and lunch meals consisting of 2 courses (menu chosen by clients and takes into account dietary requirements). Also involved in dishing up these meals and clean up afterwards. Will be working in a Commerical Kitchen environment, classed as working with Vunerable People. It would be beneficial to have basic food handling experience.

Hours are 8.30am to 2pm

Mens Group

One or two men required to support a new program currently running on Thursdays. This group will do various ‘bloke’ activities such as fishing, pub meals etc.

Coordinator Assistant

Volunteer required for an assistant position to the coordinator of a large program. Will be helping the running of the program working with volunteers, clients and animals. Possibly relieving the current coordinator on occasion.

Emergency Services

Various volunteer roles are available for a busy Emergency Service Organisation.  Volunteers are required to work in an Operational environment and need to be able to work autonomously, have computer skills and general administration skills. Training will be provided at no costs to the volunteer which includes Induction, ongoing fundamental training and first aid. Continue reading

Bus Drivers

Do you hold a light to medium bus licence and 25+ years? There are community organisations in Albury/Wodonga who urgently require the assistance of friendly and patient bus drivers to assist in a variety of bus driving roles.
